History of Furry Creek
The community of Furry Creek is named after the trapper-turned-prospector Oliver Furry. In the 1870’s he saw the enormous mining potential in the surrounding area, and settled here. Numerous loggers built cabins nearby, and a community developed. The Vancouver based Tanac Land Development Corporation began developing the initial phases of the Furry Creek we see today – a beautiful Master Planned community and the home of BC’s most scenic golf course. Nestled on the shore of Howe Sound, the views from Furry Creek are spectacular. Furry Creek, along with the neighboring communities of Britannia Beach to the north and Porteau Cove to the south, with their scenery and location on the newly expanded Sea To Sky Highway, are poised for growth in the years ahead.

Weather
Summers in Furry Creek are pure heaven - long warm sunny days, the sounds of chirping birds, sun sparkling across the waters and snow-capped glaciers in the distance. Temperatures, much like Vancouver, are in the high 20s (celcius).

Winters can be a little harsher, and the rain that Vancouver receives often falls as snow in Furry Creek creating a winter wonderland. Daytime highs in winter average between 0C to 5C. With its location on Howe Sound, as beautiful as it is, the winds can occasionally be strong in winter, making those temperatures feel colder.

Spring and fall can be equally as gorgeous as summer with daytime highs anywhere between 10C to 20C.
